Martin Murphy, Chairman

Martin joined MVM Life Science Partners in 2002. He was previously a member of the healthcare investment team at 3i. Prior to that, he was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company based in London and Mumbai. Martin has a degree in Biochemistry from Oxford University and completed a PhD in Molecular Biology at Cambridge University before going on to postdoctoral work in Paris.

Martin is Chairman of Vantia Therapeutics and also a member of the boards of Argenta Discovery Ltd, Healthcare Brands International Ltd, Heptares Therapeutics Ltd, PregLem SA and Serentis Ltd.

Graham Boulnois

Professor Graham Boulnois joined SV Life Sciences as a Venture Partner in 2001 and became a Partner in 2004. Before this, he was Senior Vice President R&D at Aventis Pharma where he had global responsibility for lead generation. Prior to joining Aventis, Graham was at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals as Senior VP, Discovery Research and then with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as Global VP, Enabling Science and Technology.

Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, he was Professor of Microbiology, Chairman of Biological Sciences and Pro-Dean of the Science Faculty at Leicester University.

In addition to Vantia Therapeutics, Graham is also a Director of ESBATech AG, Oxagen Ltd and Affinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Martin Edwards

Martin is Senior Partner at Novo Ventures, Novo A/S, which he joined in 2003. From 1998-2003 he was CEO of UK-based stem cell company ReNeuron Group plc, and between 1994-1998 he was Corporate VP and Head of Drug Development for Novo Nordisk A/S where he was responsible for all aspects of pre-clinical and clinical drug development.

Previously, Martin worked in the USA first as VP Pharmacology and Medical Affairs of ZymoGenetics, Inc. in Seattle and then as Senior VP for Medical Affairs at Novo Nordisk in Princeton.

Martin is a director of Serentis Ltd, Logical Therapeutics, Inc., Funxional Therapeutics, Ltd and Vantia Therapeutics, as well as chairman of the board of directors of Symphogen A/S.

Dr Edwards graduated from Manchester University with degrees in physiology and medicine. He also holds an MBA from Warwick University and he regularly teaches at the Scandinavian International Management Institute.

Andy Crockett, CEO

Andy joined Vantia in 2009 from the US specialty pharma company Zars Pharma where he was most recently VP Business Development. During his career he has identified, negotiated and executed strategic corporate transactions on a global basis, including merger and acquisitions, national and international product licences, IP and technology licences, and R&D alliances.

Andrew has studied at Harvard Business School and also holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with a major in Finance.

Robert Haigh, CSO

Robert holds a Masters in Biochemistry and a PhD in Medicine both from Manchester University. Following a successful Research Fellowship at Oxford University, he began his pharmaceutical career in drug discovery and has held positions of increasing responsibility in R&D during a 17 year career with Boehringer Ingelheim and Ferring Pharmaceuticals.

As Managing Director and VP Research, Robert transformed Ferring Research Ltd from an academic research institute into a productive pharmaceutical research centre and in 2008 he led the spin-out of the site.

During his career, he has lived and worked in the UK and Germany and has held board level positions in Europe and the USA.

Robert is a Founder of Vantia Therapeutics.

Alex Pasteur

Alex joined MVM Life Science Partners in September 2005. From 2001 to 2005 he was a member of the life sciences investment team at the Cambridge Gateway Fund. Prior to that Alex's experience includes consulting with OC&C Strategy Consultants Ltd in London. He has a PhD in Chemistry and a degree in Natural Sciences, both from Cambridge University.

Alex is also a member of the board of Xention Ltd.

Tony Sedgwick

Tony's career has covered a range of entrepreneurial roles in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. In 2005, Tony was appointed Chief Executive of DanioLabs Ltd, a Cambridge University spin-out. Under Tony's leadership DanioLabs became a neurology/ ophthalmology-focussed pharmaceutical reprofiling company. DanioLabs was acquired by Summit plc in March 2007 for £15 million. From 2002 to 2005, Tony was Chief Executive of Cambridge Biotechnology Ltd ("CBT"), a Parke Davis/Cambridge University spin-out. CBT developed a portfolio of product candidates in the areas of pain, obesity and inflammation. In March 2005, CBT was acquired by Biovitrum AB of Stockholm, and continues to operate as an autonomous business unit on the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge. Prior to his move into biotechnology, Tony had a long and successful clinical development career at Roche, where has was Global Head of Clinical Operations and UK Development Director.

Hamish Cameron

Dr Hamish Cameron was formerly CEO at Cambridge Antibody Technology.

David McGibney

Dr David McGibney was formerly Head of R&D at Pfizer.
